Nearly one week after a deadly tornado ripped through the suburbs of Oklahoma City, residents are returning to their destroyed homes to salvage their belongings.

People who've lost everything are searching through mountains of debris.

The reality of losing a lifetime of memories is hard to reconcile.

"It's just devastating. One minute you got everything and the next minute it's all in a pile right here."

But residents who only lost material items were quick to remember those who lost loved ones as well.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BONNIE LEE, RESIDENT OF MOORE, OKLAHOMA, WHO LOST HER HOME IN THE TORNADO, SAYING:

"We really are grieving for the families that lost their loved ones and we want to put a big shout out and say, we need, we need shelters in all of our schools in Oklahoma, not just Moore but in all of our schools."
