Residents clear up after Taliban attack

A Taliban attack on a compound affiliated with the United Nations in Kabul on Friday has left two civilians and one Afghan police officer dead.

A spokesman for the interior ministry said 10 Afghans, six Nepalese and one Italian were wounded in the incident.

The attack happened outside the International Organisation for Migration, which is affiliated with the U.N in Afghanistan.

A suicide bomber blew up a car outside the compound, followed by a gun battle between Taliban fighters and Afghan security forces.

Several buildings and residential homes were damaged in the crossfire.

The incident underscores concerns about how the country's security forces will cope with insurgencies after foreign troops leave by the end of 2014.
