An 80-year-old man becomes the oldest to climb Mount Everest.

An 80-year-old Japanese man was recently declared the oldest person to reach the top of Mount Everest. This is the third time the elderly male has reached the summit in his lifetime.

At age 70, he made it to the peak and then again at 75. His medical history makes the feat even more impressive.

In January of 2013 he underwent surgery for an irregular heartbeat. That was his fourth heart operation since 2007.

Nevertheless, the determined male continues to defy all odds. Upon reaching the top, he stated “I made it! I never imagined I could make it to the top of Mt Everest at age 80. This is the world's best feeling, although I'm totally exhausted.”

In another recent report, a male from Calgary, who is a double amputee was named the first armless person to make it to the top of Mt. Everest without using prosthetic limbs. He lost both of his arms as a teenager when a kite he was flying struck a power line.
