A non-profit group lands a Guinness World Record for the largest pizza delivery to American soldiers.
A new Guinness World Record isn’t for anything bizarre or life-threatening. However it is completely heart-warming. In April, the largest pizza delivery was officially recognized.
An Illinois based, non-profit group called Pizza 4 Patriots works to deliver pizza slices to military members serving abroad. In the summer of 2012, the organization teamed up with shipping company DHL to conduct the biggest pizza delivery ever.
30,000 pies were formally handed out to military service workers in Afghanistan. The act of kindness was part of an Independence day celebration.
A retired Air Force master sergeant founded Pizza 4 Patriots. He began working with Guinness World Records last year, in hopes of earning the title.
A spokesperson for DHL stated “Feedback from U.S. troops who received the care packages has been heartwarming as they truly appreciate the recognition for their valuable service.”
Who doesn't love pizza. With the goal of providing astronauts the means to create food during very long space journeys, NASA is looking into food printing.
They have issued a 6 month grant to a research corporation to come up with a prototype 3-D device. The first project will be a pizza. It'll print in layers, with the crust simultaneously baked while printing.
