NYC Bakery Home to Cronut - Donut and Croissant Combined

A New York City bakery is home to the cronut, which is a donut and a croissant combined.

Everyone loves a good combination.

New York City is home to one breakfast treat that combines two popular goodies in one tasty menu item.

Called the cronut, it is essentially a croissant and donut. The owner of the Dominique Ansel Bakery is responsible for the cronut’s debut.

Shaped like a standard donut, it is comprised of several layers of croissant dough which are deep fried and stuffed with vanilla cream.
The outer shell is warm and crunchy while the inside layers are soft and airy.

To finish off the masterpiece, bakery workers roll the cronut in rose sugar and cover it in a glaze.

It’s a common practice for chefs to turn two edible favorites into one. Earlier this year, the Canadian-based restaurant chain, Boston Pizza added a new menu item called "The Pizzaburger".

A half-pound prime rib burger is smothered in sauce and mozzarella, but instead of having a traditional bun, a hand-pressed pizza dough wrap envelopes the meat and additional ingredients.
