A woman bought a matching Powerball ticket 1 hour too late.
A woman in Pasadena, California opted to try her luck in the lottery.
She bought five Powerball tickets at a Shell gas station in the evening hours on a Wednesday. The lady hoped to win that same night’s jackpot of about $360 million.
On Thursday morning, she tuned into “Good Morning America” and learned that one of her tickets matched all six numbers. But then her luck quickly turned south, as it was also announced that no winning slip of paper had been sold.
The woman called her local gas station and learned that she purchased her ticket too late, about an hour or so after the numbers had initially been reported.
Here’s another lottery player who ended up on the other, brighter end of the spectrum. A Canadian woman initially misread her ticket and believed that she won $40,000.
The 51-year-old grandma was originally ecstatic about winning the five-figure sum. But when her daughter checked the numbers online, she realized her mom was actually a $40 million winner.
