A scared dog is rescued after being tied to a guardrail.

It’s maddening what some pet owners are capable of doing.

A male pit-bull was recently rescued after he was tied to a guardrail on a busy access road in San Antonio.

Whoever is responsible for the act used a heavy chain to secure the canine. Several barbell weights, totaling 35 pounds were attached to the series of links.

The dog was wearing a tight, black collar. Animal care workers rescued him. Authorities are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The canine, now named Fresno is being taken care of by Animal Care Services. He will be put up for adoption in the near future.

Last year, a puppy survived after being dragged down a highway in St. Louis. Apparently the dog had been tied to a driver's trailer hitch and pulled along the roadway for about a mile.

The motorist had no knowledge of how the puppy had become attached to his trailer.

Investigators later concluded the motorist's ex-wife asked her teenage son to tie the dog to the vehicle, as she didn’t want the canine anymore.
